HELIOS: A Modern Renaissance — 2016-2017 Season begins September 17, 2016!
Helios begins its second season by tracing the life of Leonardo da Vinci. Rediscover works by many of the great composers of da Vinci’s day and uncover some of the lesser known masters that influenced composers to come. The season continues with the Mill Avenue Chamber Players which joins Helios for an innovative performance of music from the nexus of Renaissance music—the Republic of Venice. Concert three features elegant English madrigals, early French polyphony, spicy Spanish zarzuelas, and stately German motets in Love’s Lament. The 2016-17 season closes with The Mystic’s Wheel, which encircles the mystical work of the remarkable Hildegard von Bingen. Save 10% by becoming a season subscriber. From his roots in Italy, to his final days in France, hear the music that perhaps he heard while endeavoring to explore the world and its inhabitants. Rediscover the works by the great composers of da Vinci’s day and uncover some of the lesser known masters that influenced composers to come. Artwork of local artists that channel da Vinci and his work will be exhibited during the performance.
