Contemporary Music

Inspiration comes in many forms.
For those who prefer to begin their Sunday mornings with a jolt of java, a piece of pastry, a friendly smile and a more contemporary look at the religious experience, the 9:30 service in Central’s Kendall Hall is the way to go!

Led by Pastor Larry with the assistance of Minister of Contemporary Music, Steve Hilderbrand, this service offers a less formal, more interactive, family oriented experience.  From his piano, Steve leads a resident jazz trio that includes Lee Gendvilas on acoustic/electric bass and Scott Hay on drums.  This group of incredibly talented musicians handle all styles of music from congregational hymns, pop, country and Broadway to their specialty ... jazz.  On occasion, guest instrumentalists from across the Valley “sit in” the guys, widening the musical spectrum.

Musical guest artists from Phoenix and Los Angeles vary from week to week.  From SonShine, our own choir of contemporary singers, to musicians, singers and actors hailing from some of the most respected stages and venues in the area, you are certain to be touched, moved and inspired to enjoy a closer relationship with God.
This service prides itself on its sense of community and inclusiveness.  All who choose to enter into the “family” are genuinely welcome and are encouraged (but not required!) to become part of the team of volunteers who share their various talents to make the service happen on a weekly basis.
