Agua Prieta
Agua Prieta (AP) is located immediately across the border from the town of Douglas, Arizona in the southeast corner of Arizona.   Agua Prieta was the first step in our Conference-wide Hands-on Mission project in Mexico, and was initiated as a major Conference initiative in the summer of 2001 when the Covenant Council approved it as a major outreach ministry. Click here for more information.

El Buen Pastor ("the Good Shepherd") Methodist Church.
In the mid-1940(s), El Buen Pastor (EBP) became the first, and only, Methodist presence in Agua Prieta.
It is one of the oldest Methodist churches in the Northwest Conference. Almost 60 years later (in 2000), the original Spanish-style building was in such a sad state of repair, that a Volunteers in Mission team from Alabama dismantled it and left a bare lot with only the footings in place and some rebar standing.  It remained in that condition for over a year.

Fuente de Vida ("Fountain of Life") (FdV) Methodist Church Campus.
The Fuente de Vida Methodist Church campus is located about a mile from EBP. It occupies three (3) corner lots of a major intersection in the center of an impoverished community known as La Colonia Empacadora ("the packing house" colony).  It is so named because it is immediately across the railroad track from a large (cattle) packing house.   The Fuente de Vida Methodist Church campus includes the following three (3) major integrated components - each located on its own corner lot in the center of the community.

San Luis Rio Colorado
San Luis Rio Colorado (SLRC) is located immediately across the border from the town of San Luis, Arizona - 20 miles south of Yuma in the southwestern corner of Arizona.  SLRC became an integral part of our Conference-wide hands-on mission project in Mexico in 2004 with the approval of the Covenant Council.  Since then major transformations have been achieved as a result of God working through the efforts of people from the Desert Southwest Conference and the Northwest Conference of the Methodist Church of Mexico (IMMAR).

This ministry includes two major locations in San Luis Rio Colorado - "Mikedash" Methodist Church in SLRC - and "Ismashias" Methodist Church which is located in la Colonia Ladrillera ("Brickmaker" Colony) - a community also located in SLRC but approximately 5-7 miles from Mikedash.

"Mikedash" Methodist Church is a well established church with an established congregation.   It is one of the oldest churches in the Frontier District, Northwest Conference of the Methodist Church of Mexico.  Their senior pastor, Reverend Felipe Ruiz, is also the District Superintendent for the Frontier District.

Ismashias" Methodist Church is located in the middle of a very impoverished area of SLRC known as La Colonia Ladrillera ("The Brickmaking Colony).   Ismashias was initiated originally in 2004 as an outreach ministry of Mikedash Methodist Church and is in the early stages of active growth.
